Mandi: In Mandi’s Nature Park Bhakli, the much-anticipated “Sarkar gaon ke dwar” event on February 4 faced discontent in Seraj constituency.

The absence of discussions on Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu’s policies left attendees dissatisfied. Compounded by heavy rain, the event experienced chaos, taking place far from the main center of Seraj constituency.

Interestingly, the program shifted its focus to praising late Chief Minister Vir Bhadra Singh, drawing comparisons with the current Chief Minister. Additionally, Congress leader Chetaram Thakur received accolades, sidelining the present government’s policies.

Mainstream supporters of CM Sukhu, visibly upset, left the program midway, citing dissatisfaction with the government’s lack of policy discussion. Jagdish Reddy, a prominent Sukhu associate, was conspicuously ignored during the event.

The absence of discourse on government policies fueled anger among CM Sukhu’s supporters. Allegations surfaced that Chetaram Thakur’s supporters dominated the event, raising concerns about its purpose. Both, PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh and Mandi MP and state Congress president Pratibha Singh were noted for speaking highly of the Congress leader.

The event seemed more like a formality, lacking attention to pressing public issues. Former chairman Dalip Singh expressed disappointment, highlighting this as the first assembly where there was no discussion on government policies. He criticized Chetaram Thakur’s influence on the party unit in Seraj, turning it into what he described as a private limited company, disregarding the concerns of party workers.

Former pradhan Kanhaiya Lal acknowledged CM Sukhu’s commendable disaster management efforts but criticized the lack of public awareness regarding these achievements. Despite no assistance from the center, Sukhu’s government is actively working, highlighted by a historic compensation of Rs 7 lakh.
However, Lal expressed concern about the government’s perceived weakness and emphasized the need for programs to address the issues connected to the government.
