Vikramaditya Singh meets Nitin Gadkari, gets Rs 150 cr Himachal road projects cleared

DHARAMSHALA: Himachal Pradesh Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Thursday.
Vikramaditya discussed various issues related to roads of Himachal with the Union Minister. Taking to social media, Vikramaditya Singh said Nitin Gadkari has approved Rs 150 crore to the State Public Works Department for the upgradation and repair of roads along various NHs.
“Expressing our gratitude to him for this,” wrote Vikramaditya, adding that the PWD department will not allow any shortcoming in the development of Himachal.
Vikramaditya Singh had earlier also met officials of National Highway Authorities of India (NHAI) to discuss rain damage to roads in the state. .
A detailed discussion was held on the damages caused to the Kiratpur-Manali four-lane as National Highway Authority has assessed maximum damage on this NH between Raison and Manali.
The NHAI has assured to conduct a detailed study in collaboration with IIT Roorkee which is also collaborating in the repair of the Chakki bridge. The experts from IIT Roorkee have been asked to visit the site and suggest measures for the restoration of the Kullu-Manali section. The minister had also directed to arrange for an alternative route on the Pinjore-Baddi-Nalagarh highway besides immediate repair of the Maddanwala bridge. The Chakki bridge on Pathankot-Mandi National Highway was also discussed in the meeting.
Apart from this, the Authority also assured to provide the necessary funds for the repair and strengthening of the Bailey bridge near Ghandal on the Shimla-Mataur road. Over 1,318 roads were blocked due to landslides in the state.
