Himachal weather update: Weeklong rain, snow forecast from today, mercury falls below freezing point at 8 places

SHIMLA: The weather is expected to turn inclement in Himachal Pradesh from Thursday (January 25, 2024) as a fresh western disturbance is likely to hit the state.
The changed weather pattern is likely to continue for a week and light rain and snow may be experienced at several places in the state.
Himachal, meanwhile, continues to be in the grip of a severe cold wave. The night temperatures are below normal at most places and in minus at eight places in the state.
The minimum temperature in Sundernagar is -0.4 degrees Celsius, Kalpa -3.6 degrees, Mandi -0.3 degrees, Kukumseri -10.1 degrees, Narkanda -1.4 degrees, Reckong Peo -0.9 degrees, Barthin -0.3 degrees and -6.4 degrees Celsius in Samdho.
Similarly, the minimum temperature was recorded at 0.2 degrees in Bhuntar, 0 degrees in Una, 0.2 degrees in Solan, 1.5 degrees in Kufri and Seobagh and 1 degrees Celsius in Sarahan. In Shimla and Dharamshala, the night temperature was recorded at 3.4 degrees and 5.4 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The maximum temperature has decreased at many places in the state over the last 24 hours and at some places it is below normal. In Una, it was 14.8 degrees, which is 5.6 degrees less than normal, while the maximum temperature in Nahan has been 16.8 degrees, which is 1 degrees less than normal. The maximum temperature was 13.2 degrees in Shimla, 18.7 degrees in Sundernagar, 18.4 degrees in Bhuntar, 8 degrees in Kalpa, 16.5 degrees in Dharamshala, 19 degrees in Solan, 17.6 degrees in Mandi, 7.4 degrees in Kufri, 7.9 degrees in Narkanda and Kukumseri. It was 11.7 degrees Celsius in Reckong Peo, 16.7 degrees in Seobag, 18.8 degrees in Barathi and 7.2 degrees Celsius in Samdho.
The weather will remain inclement in the state from today for the next one week. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be rain and snowfall at some places from January 25 to 29, while on January 30 and 31, there is a possibility of rain and snowfall at many places in the state.
