Himachal MLA Anil Sharma accuses Congress rival Champa Thakur of blocking radiologist appointment in Mandi’s Zonal Hospital

MANDI: Local MLA Anil Sharma on Wednesday (January 17, 2024) raised questions directed at Congress leader Champa Thakur, inquiring about the delay in appointing a radiologist at Zonal Hospital Mandi despite her political influence.

Criticising Champa Thakur, her father Kaul Singh Thakur and former minister Mahendra Singh Thakur during a public outreach campaign in Pandoh’s three panchayats, Sharma alleged that his persistent efforts to bring a radiologist to the Zonal Hospital had been resisted by the Congress leaders. “The absence of a radiologist currently compels pregnant women and others to seek ultrasound services from private clinics nearby,” he said.

Sharma also launched a verbal assault on former minister Kaul Singh Thakur, asserting that in 1993, he hindered his father late Pandit Sukh Ram’s chief ministerial aspirations by not supporting him. Claiming to have settled the score in the recent Assembly elections by defeating Kaul Singh’s daughter Chamba from Mandi-Sadar seat, Sharma noted that Kaul Singh was now facing consequences for his previous actions in life.

Criticising his party’s former minister Mahendra Singh Thakur, Sharma attributed the lack of development in Mandi-Sadar over the past five years to him. Emphasising the ongoing all-round development during the current Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government’s tenure, Sharma highlighted the approval of a Rs 2 crore fund for Kotli Panchayat Bhawan and the forest clearance for the Paloun Project.
