Focus on Effective Enforcement and Awareness of Road Safety Rules Civil Society Participation in Road Safety Meetings to be Ensured

A meeting of the Parliamentary Constituency Road Safety Committee was held today at the Savings Bhavan under the chairmanship of Lok Sabha MP Dr. Rajiv Bhardwaj. Dalhousie MLA D.S. Thakur was also present as a special guest.
Dr. Bhardwaj reviewed various aspects of road safety and appreciated the efforts being made by the district administration in this field. He emphasized the need to further strengthen awareness activities and called for the active participation of civil society in road safety meetings. He suggested that NGOs, public representatives, students, and transport unions should also be included to ensure effective discussions on ground-level issues and solutions.
He assured resolution of matters related to crash barriers under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. The MP directed officials to ensure GPS and speed governors in school vehicles and stressed effective publicity of the Rahveer Pradhan Mantri Relief Scheme and MACT scheme.
Highlighting that a large share of road accidents stem from human error, Dr. Bhardwaj urged drivers and citizens to take responsibility by following traffic rules and adhering to speed limits. He instructed the Sub-Divisional Manager of the State Road Transport Corporation and the Regional Transport Officer to ensure that private and public buses pick up and drop passengers only at designated points, strictly following traffic regulations.
Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repswal presented a detailed PowerPoint on the various road safety measures being implemented in the district.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar Saklani, SDM Anil Bhardwaj, Chirag Sharma, Rajesh Jaryal, Surender Katoch, Ajay Kumar Singh, Superintending Engineer Jeet Singh Thakur, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jalam Singh Bhardwaj, MS Dr. Pradeep Singh, Executive Regional Transport Officer Sanjeev Sharma, along with officials from various departments.
