Security Agencies Test Preparedness; Aerodrome Committee Meeting Held

The annual anti‑hijacking mock exercise was conducted at Gaggal Airport on Saturday, alongside a meeting of the Aerodrome Committee. The exercise was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Kangra, Hemraj Bairwa, and witnessed the participation of multiple security and administrative agencies.
Representatives from the police, health department, district disaster management authority (DDMA), Intelligence Bureau, Army, National Security Guard (NSG), airport internal staff, and Airport Police Security Unit (APSU) actively took part in the drill.
Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa emphasized that the primary objective of the mock exercise was to test and strengthen the preparedness of all concerned agencies in handling potential hijacking incidents or other aviation emergencies. He highlighted the importance of coordination, communication systems, rapid response mechanisms, and joint action capabilities during such critical situations.
During the exercise, agencies reviewed their designated roles and responsibilities, discussed ways to improve inter‑agency coordination, and identified potential gaps in preparedness. Measures to address shortcomings and ensure swift, effective responses in emergencies were also deliberated.
In addition, the Aerodrome Committee meeting reviewed various aspects of airport security and disaster management. Officials discussed strategies to enhance safety protocols and ensure seamless coordination among stakeholders.
The exercise reaffirmed the commitment of all participating agencies to work in close synergy, ensuring that Gaggal Airport remains well‑prepared to tackle any unforeseen aviation emergency.
