Indora: Dr. Vivek Singh, the chancellor of Arni University, has lodged a police complaint against Congress MLA Malinder Rajan and Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Surinder Thakur, accusing them of threatening his life.
The complaint, filed on January 4, alleges that the SDM made two threatening calls to Singh, warning of stopping university buses and urging compliance with the local MLA’s wishes. Singh has attached call recordings to the complaint and requested the police to file an FIR.
Attempts to contact the MLA and SDM have been unsuccessful, and the BJP has already voiced its concerns over the issue.
The Deputy Commissioner of Kangra has initiated an inquiry, with the additional deputy commissioner expected to submit a factual report within three weeks.
The chancellor was physically attacked by assailants on January 1, following threatening calls from the SDM instructing compliance with the MLA’s desires.
The recordings and complaint letters have been widely circulated, aiming to ensure justice in the matter.
