Tragic Accident on Hiling–Lamu Road: Car Falls 600 Meters, Two D*ead on the Spot

A devastating road accident late Wednesday night claimed two lives in the remote tribal region of Bharmaur. The incident occurred on the Hiling–Lamu road near Kileri Kandh, where an Alto car (HP-01C-2717) lost control and plunged nearly 600 meters into a deep gorge.

According to police reports from Bharmaur station, the accident happened around 11 PM. The impact was so severe that both occupants of the vehicle died instantly. A team from the Holi police post, assisted by local residents, managed to recover the bodies from the gorge after a challenging rescue operation.

The deceased have been identified as Suresh Kumar (48), son of Rangila Ram, and Sanjay Kumar (36), son of Sarwan Kumar. Both were residents of Lamu village, Holi tehsil, Chamba district. The bodies were taken into police custody and later sent to Civil Hospital Holi for postmortem. A case has been registered, and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident.

The tragedy has cast a pall of grief over the entire Lamu panchayat. Local leaders, including Panchayat Pradhan Bina Devi and former Pradhan Lal Chand, expressed deep sorrow over the incident. They extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for strength to endure this irreparable loss.
