Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is set to preside over the grand closing ceremony of the International Minjar Fair 2026 in Chamba. His visit will also mark the inauguration and foundation stone laying of several key developmental projects, including the much-awaited 200-bed hospital building at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College, Sarol.
Arrival and Stay
According to Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal, the Chief Minister will arrive in Chamba on August 1 at 2:00 PM. He will stay overnight at the Paridhi Grih, Chamba, before beginning a packed schedule of official engagements the following day.
Inauguration of Developmental Projects
On August 2 at 10:50 AM, the Chief Minister will preside over the inauguration and foundation stone laying of multiple developmental projects at the historic Chaugan ground in Chamba. These projects are expected to boost infrastructure and public amenities in the district, reflecting the government’s commitment to balanced regional development.
Hospital Inauguration
At 11:55 AM, CM Sukhu will inaugurate the newly constructed 200-bed hospital building at the Sarol campus of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College. Participation in Minjar Fair Procession
At 4:25 PM, CM Sukhu will join the grand Minjar procession, beginning at the Akhanda Chandi Mahal. The procession will culminate at Manjri Garden near the Ravi River in Lower Julakhari, where the symbolic ritual of Minjar immersion will be performed. This centuries-old tradition marks the conclusion of the fair and is deeply rooted in the cultural heritage of Chamba.
After the immersion ceremony, the Chief Minister will return to Paridhi Grih, where he will also interact with citizens and listen to their grievances.
Cultural Evening and Release of Minjar Souvenir
At 9:30 PM, CM Sukhu will grace the final cultural evening of the Minjar Fair at the Chaugan ground. The event will showcase vibrant performances reflecting the rich traditions of Himachal Pradesh. On this occasion, the Chief Minister will also release the Minjar Souvenir, a publication commemorating the fair’s highlights and cultural significance.
Departure
The Chief Minister will conclude his visit on August 3 at 11:00 AM, departing from Chamba after completing his official engagements.
