Dharamshala: In a case presided over by District and Sessions Judge Anil Sharma, the court sentenced the accused Ajay Kumar to three years of ordinary imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹3000.
The case, investigated by District Magistrate Rajrani, involved the 22 witnesses.
The accused received sentences under various sections, including Section 354, where failure to pay a ₹1000 fine resulted in an additional three months of imprisonment.
In Section 506, a one-year sentence was imposed, and under Section 8 of POCSO, a three-year sentence and ₹3000 fine led to an additional six months of imprisonment.
The case was initiated on March 25, 2021, when the mother of the victim lodged a complaint at the Jwalamukhi police station.
The victim, a school student, was reportedly attacked while walking to school on a deserted route of approximately 1.5 kilometers. The incident occurred around 1:00 PM, and the victim’s mother received a phone call informing her about the assault.
Upon reaching the site, the mother found her daughter injured, with blood on her fingers. According to the victim, she was attacked by a person who attempted to intimidate her with a concealed knife.
