Serious allegations of administrative negligence and rule violations have surfaced regarding the proposed 33 kV power line project in Pangi Valley, Chamba district.

Local MLA from Bharmour-Pangi, Dr. Janak Raj, expressed concern that the project has been stalled for a long time due to lack of coordination among departments and failure to obtain mandatory forest clearance. He stated that attempts were made to advance the project without securing the necessary approval, leading to its suspension midway.

Dr. Raj emphasized that this situation not only reflects administrative inefficiency but also raises questions over the multi-crore project approved by the central government. He warned that such lapses damage the credibility and image of the state government.

Key Demands Raised by MLA

  1. An immediate high-level and independent inquiry into the matter.
  2. Disciplinary action against officials or departments responsible for negligence and rule violations.
  3. Special priority for the project, considering the difficult geographical, social, and strategic conditions of Pangi Valley, ensuring timely completion as per rules.
  4. A public clarification from the government identifying those truly responsible for the delay.

Dr. Raj cautioned that if the government continues to delay action on this public-interest issue, he will be compelled to raise it in the Assembly, among the people, and even at constitutional forums.

He urged the government to act swiftly, ensure accountability, and issue effective directions for the project’s completion in compliance with regulations.
