Chamba: Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania inaugurated a community library at Tundi gram panchayat, marking another step towards strengthening educational infrastructure in the Bhattiyat region of Chamba district.
Addressing the gathering, Pathania said the library would prove highly beneficial for young aspirants preparing for competitive examinations. He said that a conducive and disciplined study environment had been ensured to help students focus on their academic goals.
An amount of nearly Rs 10 lakh has been spent to equip the library with books, furniture, Wi-Fi connectivity, computer systems, CCTV cameras and facilities for hot and cold drinking water, keeping the needs of students in mind.
The Speaker said that with the objective of providing better study facilities to youth, community libraries were being set up at various locations across the Bhattiyat area. He informed that similar libraries had already been made operational in Manhuta, Avanh, Hobar, Siyunta and Kakira gram panchayats.
On the occasion, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Paras Agrawal, on behalf of the sub-divisional administration, and panchayat pradhan Pawan Kumar along with up-pradhan Subhash Chandra honoured the Speaker by presenting him with a traditional shawl and cap.
Among those present were State Forest Corporation Board Director Chela Krishan Chand, former Block Congress Committee president Vijay Kanwar, Chuwari Nagar panchayat vice-president Surender Chadak, Tehsildar Surender Kumar and officials from various departments.
