Bharmour: The Watershed Festival was formally inaugurated at the Government Senior Secondary School, Garola, under Gram Panchayat Garola in Bharmour development block, with the aim of promoting water conservation and sustainable management of natural resources.
The programme was inaugurated by Gopal, Superintendent from the BDO Office, Bharmour. He said the festival is being organised under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana to spread public awareness and encourage watershed development activities at the grassroots level. The event began with a plantation drive, highlighting the importance of environmental conservation.
On the occasion, villagers were sensitised about water conservation, rainwater harvesting, rejuvenation of water sources and the long-term significance of sustainable use of natural resources. Speakers emphasised the need to treat water conservation as a mass movement to ensure water security for future generations.
Representatives of the Gram Panchayat, departmental officials, members of women self-help groups and local residents participated actively in the programme. Various activities were conducted to convey the message of responsible water use and community participation in conservation efforts.
Adding colour to the event, women’s groups and students of the Government Senior Secondary School, Garola, presented cultural programmes, reflecting the theme of environmental awareness and conservation.
