A major fire broke out at Hotel Dhauladhar in Kotwali Bazar late Thursday evening, triggering panic among residents and shopkeepers in the busy market area. Thick plumes of smoke were seen rising from the building as fire tenders rushed to the spot.

Initial reports suggest that a suspected gas pipeline leakage may have triggered the blaze, though officials have clarified that the exact cause is still under investigation. The sudden eruption of flames forced guests and staff to evacuate the premises immediately. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as people scrambled to safety while firefighters battled to contain the inferno.

Two fire brigade vehicles were deployed to douse the flames, and personnel worked tirelessly to prevent the fire from spreading to adjoining structures in the congested bazar. Their swift action helped avert a larger disaster in the heart of the town.

Urban Development Minister R.S. Bali personally took charge of the situation, arriving at the site to oversee rescue and relief operations. He assured the public that all necessary measures were being taken to ensure safety and that a detailed inquiry would be conducted to ascertain the cause of the incident. Bali also directed officials to assess damages and provide assistance to those affected.

Authorities have cordoned off the area, and traffic was diverted to facilitate firefighting operations. While no casualties have been reported so far, the incident has raised serious concerns about fire safety preparedness in commercial establishments.

The blaze at Hotel Dhauladhar serves as a stark reminder of the need for strict adherence to safety norms, particularly in densely populated market zones. Investigations are underway, and officials are expected to release a comprehensive report once the cause is confirmed.
