Price List Violations Lead to Vegetable Seizures in Chamba

Chamba — In a surprise inspection led by the District Controller of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs, Chamba, authorities checked fruit and vegetable shops across Chamba city and nearby areas. The inspection aimed to ensure transparency in pricing and protect consumers from being overcharged.

Out of 18 shops inspected, 10 were found not displaying the mandatory daily price list. As a result, officials seized between 3 to 24 quintals of vegetables, valued at ₹18,935. Traders were instructed to prominently display updated price lists of fruits and vegetables to help customers identify fair rates and prevent exploitation.

The inspection team included Manoj Kumar, Inspector of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs, Chamba, and Bhatiya, Inspector from Bhatiyat. The District Controller emphasized that such checks will continue to uphold consumer rights and maintain market discipline.Vegetables worth ₹18,935 , 3.24 quintals of vegetables were seized.

A copy of the press note has been forwarded to the District Public Relations Officer, Chamba, with a recommendation for publication in local newspapers.
