Dharamshala:
On the second day of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly’s winter session at Tapovan in Dharamshala, the Opposition BJP staged a strong demonstration in the Vidhan Sabha complex on Thursday (November 27, 2025), moments before the House convened for the day.

Led by Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, BJP legislators gathered at the entrance of the Assembly, holding placards emblazoned with slogans and raising loud protests against the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led state government.

The MLAs accused the government of withholding the MLA Area Development Fund and the discretionary grants crucial for initiating local development works.

The BJP members said the delay in releasing these funds had stalled essential projects across constituencies, inconveniencing the public and hampering grassroots development. They demanded that the government unlock the funds without further delay “so that legislators can execute long-pending works in their respective areas”.

The Opposition also pressed for the opening of the state treasury and called upon the government to immediately announce the schedule for the upcoming panchayat elections.
The protest continued for several minutes before the legislators entered the House as the day’s proceedings began.
