The 5th State-Level Tribal Pride Day concluded with a grand ceremony at the helipad ground in Bharmour subdivision headquarters on Saturday. The event was organized to mark the 150th birth anniversary of tribal hero Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
The program was attended by Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Kuldeep Singh Pathania, as the Chief Guest, while Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania was present as the Special Guest.
In his address, Kuldeep Singh Pathania paid tribute to Birsa Munda’s immense contribution to India’s freedom struggle and the protection of tribal rights. He said Birsa Munda awakened the tribal community against colonial oppression and social exploitation, making his struggle a significant chapter in the nation’s history.
Pathania emphasized that the holistic and balanced development of tribal regions is the true tribute to Birsa Munda. He also recalled the invaluable contributions of Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and other freedom fighters.
Highlighting Himachal Pradesh’s tribal development journey, Pathania noted that the foundation was laid by the state’s first Chief Minister, Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar, and further strengthened by Virbhadra Singh. He acknowledged the role of successive Chief Ministers in advancing tribal development.
He praised Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s ongoing policies and welfare programs, stating that innovative social security initiatives have become a national example of commitment to social welfare.
🎶 Cultural & Awareness Programs
The ceremony featured captivating cultural performances by artists from Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba’s Pangi, and Bharmour subdivisions, showcasing traditional tribal folk culture.
Exhibitions were also set up to highlight government schemes and display products prepared by self-help groups, promoting local entrepreneurship.
