Dharamshala:

Senior BJP leader, former minister and sitting MLA Bikram Singh Thakur on Wednesday (October 1, 2025) hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) as a “historic economic revolution” that is transforming India’s economy and directly benefiting every section of society — from small traders to big industries.

Speaking in Dharamshala, Bikram Thakur described GST as a game-changing reform that has unified the nation into “One Nation, One Tax, One Market”, eliminating the inefficiencies of the past and strengthening the economy from the grassroots.

“Thanks to PM Modi’s leadership, GST has become a blessing for the country. Small shopkeepers, traders, farmers, and even common consumers are now seeing the real benefits of transparent and efficient tax reform,” Thakur said.

Taking a swipe at the opposition, Thakur accused the Congress of merely indulging in rhetoric without ever implementing genuine reforms. “The Congress never gave real relief to the public. Their weak and inconsistent policies only created confusion. In contrast, PM Modi’s government is delivering concrete results,” he said.

He further claimed that GST is not just a tax system, but a powerful tool to curb corruption, streamline compliance and promote economic self-reliance.

Thakur emphasised that GST is playing a key role in India’s rise as a global economic power, and added that reforms like GST are preparing the country to become the next economic superpower in the world.

“PM Modi is not doing politics but improving the quality of life for every Indian. GST is the backbone of a stronger, self-reliant India,” Thakur concluded. The BJP leader’s remarks come at a time when the Modi government is celebrating the success of GST and projecting it as a model of pro-people governance and fiscal discipline.
