SHIMLA:
The Himachal Mitra Mandal Mumbai has come forward to support families devastated by recent floods in Himachal Pradesh.
The organisation, comprising residents of Himachali origin living in Mumbai, successfully raised Rs 6.5 lakh through a donation drive and extended financial assistance to 30 rain and flashflood-affected families, including many from Mandi district.
These families either lost their homes completely or suffered severe structural damage due to the natural disaster. The relief amount was transferred directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts, ensuring both transparency and timely aid.
Speaking on the initiative, Manoj Awasthi, president of Himachal Mitra Mandal, said: “This support is more than just financial help. It is a gesture of solidarity, brotherhood and emotional connection in a time of crisis. Our community’s unity is our greatest strength.”
The Mandal collected a verified list of affected families through local channels before disbursing the funds, making sure that aid reached those most in need without delay or intermediaries.
This initiative reaffirms the organisation’s long-standing commitment to disaster relief, cultural preservation and community welfare. Over the years, Himachal Mitra Mandal has played a crucial role in connecting the Himachali diaspora in Mumbai while continuing to respond to the needs of people back home in Himachal during difficult times.
