A nationwide mediation campaign titled “Mediation for the Nation” has officially commenced across India from July 1 and will run until September 30 (2025).
The 90-day initiative was launched under the leadership of Chief Justice of India BR Gavai Justice Suryakant, Executive Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).
As part of this campaign, courts across the country have been directed to prioritise referring pending cases to mediation, a move aimed at promoting faster, amicable dispute resolution and reducing judicial backlog.
Mediation drive underway in Kangra district
Rajiv Bali, Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kangra, and District and Sessions Judge, confirmed that all courts within the jurisdiction of Kangra district have been instructed to actively participate in the campaign.
Hе said that mediation is an effective and friendly way to resolve any dispute that has the ability to save relationships, time and money. He appealed to the general public to participate in this campaign by getting their pending matters in the courts referred for mediation, the Secretary, DLSA, said in a statement.
The DLSA Chairman said that under this 90-day campaign focus would be on settling matrimonial disputes, domestic violence cases, cheque bounce cases, commercial disputes, criminal compoundable cases, consumer disputes, debt recovery cases, partition cases, eviction cases, land acquisition disputes and other civil matters.
