The Electricity Board in Chamba has decided to disconnect the power supply for 824 consumers who have consistently failed to pay their electricity bills. Despite repeated appeals, these consumers have not shown any interest in settling their long-overdue bills. The Board, in response, has compiled a list of defaulters who collectively owe a staggering amount of ₹15,36,556. Notices have been issued to these consumers, and the Board has ordered the temporary disconnection of their electricity connections.
According to Assistant Engineer Ajay Kumar from Electricity Subdivision Chamba-2, the list of defaulters includes consumers from various areas such as Khajiyar, Sarol, Maredi, Sahu, and Chaned. If these consumers fail to submit their overdue bills within a week, the Board will permanently disconnect their power supply. Additionally, consumers will need to pay an extra ₹250 along with the full outstanding amount to reconnect their electricity once the disconnection has occurred. This strict measure aims to enforce timely payment and ensure responsible electricity consumption in the region.
