Himachal police issue notices to 3 helicopter companies in case of cross-voting, bid to topple Sukhu govt

himachal

The Himachal Pradesh Police have issued notices to three helicopter companies in connection with a case involving cross-voting during the February 2024 Rajya Sabha election and alleged attempts to destabilise the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government.

The helicopter companies have been asked to provide records of the air services provided to rebel Congress MLAs in Chandigarh and Uttarakhand, along with details of the expenses incurred. The move comes after previous requests by the district police for these records were met with reluctance from the companies.

Recently, the police conducted a search at the office of one of these companies in Gurugram under a search warrant. However, the operation faced a setback when the Haryana Police intervened, detaining the Shimla police team.

Following discussions between the Chief Minister’s Office and the Directors General of Police of both states, the Shimla police team was allowed to return. The police have now renewed their demand for the helicopter companies to submit the requested records. Should the companies fail to comply, strict action may be taken against them.

Ex-MLAs Bhutto, Rana to be questioned

In the same case involving cross-voting and efforts to “destabilise” the government, former MLAs Davinder Kumar Bhutto (Kutlehar) and Rajinder Rana (Sujanpur) will be questioned in Shimla on Friday (August 23, 2024). The interrogation will take place at the Boileauganj police station where they will be asked about their involvement in the case.
