After 4-year wait, Himachal govt to declare results of JOA (IT) recruitment before July 20
The Himachal Pradesh State Selection Commission is set to declare the results for the Junior Office Assistant (IT) Post Code 817 before July 20 (2024). The evaluation process has been completed and the allocation of preferred departments to the selected candidates based on merit and their preferences is currently underway.
Under Post Code 817, approximately 1,867 positions in 74 departments, boards and corporations across Himachal Pradesh are to be filled. However, due to a paper leak incident and the dissolution of the Staff Selection Commission, 12 of these posts will remain vacant for the time being. Five posts will be kept vacant due to the dissolution while the results for seven posts will not be declared due to the paper leak case.
Completion of document evaluation
The document evaluation process concluded last month, with four teams formed by the State Selection Commission in Hamirpur to expedite the process. These teams included employees from the Education Department and the Electricity Board.
A total of 20 personnel working in these teams have prepared the final results. Currently, 12 employees of the commission are involved in allocating departments to the selected candidates based on their merit and priorities.
Long-awaited selection process
Candidates have been awaiting this selection process for years. Initially, the recruitment for 1,388 posts under Post Code 817 began, with around 4,000 students selected for the evaluation process. However, the process was delayed due to a court case, during which 479 more posts were added to the post code.
Now, the final results for all candidates, including the department allocations, will be announced together.
The declaration of these results will address the clerical staff shortage in 73 departments, boards and corporations to some extent. The majority of the positions under this post code will be filled in the Education Department and the Electricity Board. The recruitment process has been highly competitive, with over one lakh candidates participating.
The Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission initiated the recruitment process for the JOA posts on September 21, 2020. On October 21, 2020, and January 22, 2021, recruitment efforts commenced for 1,867 posts based on demand from various departments. Following a written test and typing test for the 479 posts, 1,375 candidates were selected for the evaluation test.
