North Korea fires new anti-aircraft missile in 4th missile test in under a month


North Korea test-fired a new anti-aircraft missile, its fourth missile test in under a month. “The remarkable combat performance of the new-type anti-aircraft missile…as well as the substantial increase in the distance of downing air targets has been verified,” state media said. North Korea had fired a hypersonic missile, ballistic missiles and a cruise missile in recent weeks.

US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley has said that the US lost the 20-year war in Afghanistan. “It is clear, it is obvious to all of us, that the war in Afghanistan did not end on the terms we wanted,” he told the House Armed Services Committee. “The war was a strategic failure,” Milley added.

Ethiopia expels 7 senior UN officials accusing them of ‘meddling’


Ethiopia said it’s expelling seven senior United Nations officials for “meddling” in its affairs. This comes days after the UN warned the Ethiopian government blockade of aid had likely forced hundreds of thousands of people in the Tigray region into famine. Tigray has witnessed violence since a conflict between federal forces and Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) erupted in November.


China delivers 1st batch of aid worth $31 million to Taliban government

China delivered the first batch of its humanitarian assistance worth $31 million, comprising emergency supplies, to the Taliban government in Afghanistan. China’s Ambassador to Afghanistan Wang Yu said amid many difficulties, China has managed to arrange the emergency humanitarian aid materials for Afghanistan. Taliban also thanked China for the aid and termed it as a good friend of Afghanistan.


Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano erupts, lava fountains form in park

The Kilauea volcano on the island of Hawaii has erupted, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said. Footage of the volcano’s crater showed lava fountains covering its floor and clouds of volcanic gas rising into the air. Scientists said the eruption was contained within the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and would not pose a threat to residents nearby.
