
US to fly Haitian migrants back home after thousands arrive in Texas
The US said that it plans to fly Haitian migrants back to Haiti after thousands of them arrived in a border city in Texas. The US is planning to operate five to eight flights per day under the operation, a US official said. Around 13,700 migrants have gathered in Del Rio, a majority of them are Haitians.

Recent satellite images show North Korea is expanding a uranium enrichment plant at the Yongbyon nuclear complex, a sign that it’s intent on boosting production of bomb materials, experts said. The assessment comes after North Korea’s first missile tests in six months amid long-dormant nuclear disarmament negotiations with US. The photos by Maxar showed construction in area adjoining the plant.
Australia-US pact may spark arms race in Indo-Pacific: Malaysia
Malaysia said that Australia’s plan to build nuclear-powered submarines under a new pact with the UK and the US could spark a nuclear arms race in the Indo-Pacific region. “Malaysia holds the principle of maintaining ASEAN as a Zone of Peace, Freedom and Neutrality (ZOPFAN),” it added. The US will help Australia build eight submarines under the pact.
There is space for discussion with Taliban over human rights: UNHCR
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Filippo Grandi said that there is “space for discussion and engagement” on human rights issues, including women and minorities rights, with Taliban. He added that he has taken up the issues with various Taliban authorities. Grandi also called on international community to continue engaging with the Taliban “to save Afghanistan from disaster”.
Yemen’s Houthi rebels execute 9 men over killing of top leader
Yemen’s Houthi rebels executed nine men who were convicted of involvement in the 2018 killing of Saleh al-Samad, the armed group’s top civilian leader. The execution by firing squad was witnessed by “masses”, the Houthis said. Samad was killed in April 2018 by a Saudi-led coalition air strike in the port city of Hodeidah on Yemen’s west coast.
