Woman’s Death Raises Allegations of Coercion by In-Laws

Dharamshala: A village panchayat in Palampur sub-division is grappling with sorrow as a woman tragically lost her life after consuming a poisonous substance. The grieving family has come forward with distressing allegations, accusing the woman’s in-laws of coercing her into taking her own life.
This somber incident prompted a heartfelt protest by the family outside the local police station, expressing their anguish and even threatening to set the woman’s body ablaze in protest. Notably, the deceased’s final rites were conducted under police surveillance in her in-laws’ cremation ground.
Law enforcement has responded promptly, filing a case against the woman’s husband, mother-in-law, and father-in-law, initiating a comprehensive investigation. The deceased’s husband, a retired army personnel now serving in the state police, has been apprehended.
Protest Erupts: Relatives Allege Forced Suicide
The tragic sequence of events unfolded on a fateful Friday when relatives of the deceased gathered outside the Palampur police station, vehemently asserting that their daughter fell victim to forced suicide. Disturbing allegations surfaced during the protest, with claims of persistent harassment and coercive tactics leading to the untimely demise. The grief-stricken father, in particular, made poignant statements, revealing the relentless torment his daughter endured, ultimately succumbing to the pressure. The deceased leaves behind a 13-year-old daughter and a six-year-old son.
Legal Action Initiated
Law enforcement acted swiftly, registering a case against the deceased woman’s husband, mother-in-law, and father-in-law, invoking various legal sections pertinent to the circumstances. With the husband now in police custody, a thorough investigation is underway to unravel the complexities of this heart-wrenching case.
