Winter here but it’s hardly wintry in Himachal, temperature 4°C above normal in Shimla, 6°C in Kalpa

SHIMLA: The winter season is here but winter-like conditions are not visible in Himachal Pradesh. There used to be severe cold in the state these days, but the mercury is currently settling at temperatures higher than normal in several places, including Shimla and Kalpa.
But due to a fresh western disturbance, which would be getting active from December 29, the weather in the state may turn adverse. According to the weather department, there may be snowfall in the middle and higher reaches of the state on December 30 and 31.
The maximum temperature in Shimla over the last 24 hours has been 16.7 degrees Celsius, which is 3.9 degrees more than normal. At the same time, a temperature of 13.3 degrees has been recorded in Kalpa (Kinnaur), which is 6.2 degrees more than normal. The maximum temperature in Dharamshala was 20.0 degrees which is 2.6 degrees more than normal. The maximum temperature recorded in Una was 24.2 degrees, which is 2.6 degrees more than normal. Whereas in Sundernagar, the maximum temperature was recorded at 22 degrees, which is 3 degrees more than normal.
The minimum temperature too in some places, including Shimla, in the state is above normal. The minimum temperature recorded in Shimla was 8.6 degrees Celsius, which is 4.4 degrees above normal. Similarly, in Kalpa also, the minimum temperature has been recorded at 2 degrees, which is 4.4 degrees more than normal. The minimum temperature recorded in Dharamshala is 8.2 degrees, which is 1.6 degrees more than normal. The minimum temperature recorded in Kangra is 6.2 degrees, which is 1.6 degrees more than normal. Similarly, the minimum temperature in Solan was 1.6 degrees, which is 1.6 degrees more than normal. Whereas in the last 24 hours, the lowest temperature in the state has been recorded at -2.3 degrees in Samdho.
Flights arriving late due to smog
Flights are arriving late in the state, the reason being smog in Delhi. Flights have been coming from Delhi to Shimla, Kullu and Dharamshala, but heavy smog is being seen in Delhi due to which these flights are arriving late. These flights are getting delayed by one to one and a half hours. Planes are able to take off from Delhi only after the smog clears.
