SHIMLA: There is a likelihood of snow in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh for two days on December 30 and 31 (2023) while the middle-altitude belts are likely to witness rain, according to the forecast by the Meteorological Centre, Shimla.
A fresh western disturbance is expected to get active over Himachal Pradesh from December 29 onwards and would bring rain and snow in the middle and high-altitude belts of the state. The Meteorological Centre had predicted inclement weather from December 20 to January 2, but it subsequently revised its forecast. Now, the weather is anticipated to clear up afterwards.
Snow eluded Himachal on Christmas as well, though tourists made a beeline to Sissu and other parts of tribal Lahaul-Spiti, through the Atal Tunnel near Manali, where it had snowed earlier.
Travellers and tourists are advised to stay updated with airlines and weather forecasts for the latest information on their flights and travel plans as fog in the plains has been delaying flights to Shimla, Kullu and Dharamshala.
