Water supply for all homes in Tashigang village

It was a day of double whammies with homes in Tashigang village, situated at a height of 15,256 feet above sea level and known to be the highest polling station in the country, getting potable water.
Earlier on Sunday the Kangra district collector had announced that remote village Bada Bhangar has got a solar power project and inverters which will light up all homes 24×7.

Hydel power department’s claim
The department claimed that steps taken under the jal jeevan mission ensured water supply in every home in Tashigang village. Himachal Pradesh has been adjudged the best under the mission. Taps are to be provided in 17 lakh homes in the state and so far 14.50 lakh homes have got them.

Minister elaborates
Hydel power minister Mahendra Singh Thakur said that the state government was provided Rs 2260 crore under the jal jeevan mission that commenced in 2019. Under the mission the target is to provide 55 litre potable water per person per day.
