SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh has said that BJP’s “Operation Lotus” would not be successful in the state, and that the Congress government under Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu would complete its five-year term.
Speaking to the media in Shimla on Thursday (July 6, 2023), Vikramaditya accused the BJP leadership of creating an atmosphere of instability in the state. He said the Congress had 40 MLAs and the government would last its term.
Interestingly, after the political shake-up in Maharashtra, there have been widespread discussions on “Operation Lotus” taking root in Himachal. Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has been constantly attacking the Congress government saying it won’t be able to complete its five-year term.
On Maharashtra politics where NCP’s Ajit Pawar upstaged his uncle and Maratha strongman Sharad Pawar, Vikramaditya said ‘Devbhoomi’ Himachal was a trendsetter. He said the mandate of 70 lakh people of the state was with the Congress government. He said that all departments of the state government were doing excellent work, which was not going down well with the BJP. “The BJP had to face defeat even in the Shimla Municipal Corporation election. They are in a state of shock and desperation,” he said.
Countering the rhetoric by BJP state in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna and general secretary Trilok Kapoor, he said the youth were still bearing the brunt of the alleged corruption during the previous Jai Ram government. He said the state BJP leaders should instead raise their voice with the Centre regarding the decline in the borrowing capacity of the Himachal government.
