MANDI: In a significant move to ease the registration process for patients, the Citizen Council of Mandi (CCM) has stepped forward for the convenience of hundreds of patients at the Zonal Hospital here by installing token machines at all registration counters. The initiative, funded by the CCM, aims to eliminate the long queues that patients previously had to endure.

Neeraj Handa, representing the CCM, praised the relentless efforts of Mandi Citizen Council president OP Kapoor and other officials in making this possible.

He mentioned that two volunteers from will be stationed at the hospital to assist patients and their attendants, ensuring a seamless registration process. These volunteers will issue tokens and aid with the registration slips.

To further enhance the comfort of patients and their attendants, benches have been installed near the registration counters. Some benches were provided by the Mandi Municipal Corporation, while others were repurposed from less utilised areas within the hospital. This initiative ensures that patients and their attendants have a place to sit comfortably while waiting.

In addition to improving hospital services, the Citizen Council has also donated Rs 1 lakh from its accumulated funds to ‘Moksha Dham’ in Mandi. This donation, handed over to the Bir Mandal recently, will be used to repair the smokeless cremation furnace, enhancing the facility’s services.

Talking to TNR, Om Prakash Kapoor highlighted that the funds for these initiatives were sourced from the surplus contributions received during last year’s disaster relief efforts. He emphasised the commitment to establishing a continuous fund to support local initiatives, ensuring ongoing collaboration with the hospital administration and other departments to address community needs effectively.
