Himachal Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri has urged the Union government to help the state generously.
“We are committed to making Himachal economically dependent. We are also working on this, but the Centre should also help Himachal with an open mind,” Agnihotri said.
He said that ever since Chandigarh was formed, it was said that 7.19 per cent share belongs to Himachal Pradesh. “We have our share in electricity as well as in water and also in Chandigarh. Right now the lease of the Shanan project is about to expire, so this project has to be shifted to Himachal,” he said.
A complete report of the damage caused by the rains in Himachal Pradesh will be prepared and sent to the Centre as well, Agnihotri said.
Himachal gardeners cheated
Agnihotri said that the Prime Minister used to talk about the use of Himachal’s fruits and apple juice in every juice product, while now Washington has reduced the import duty on apples. Apple plays a major role in this hill state’s economy, he said adding that the gardeners work hard, and with the reduction in import duty by the US the gardeners will face losses.
