Unemployed trained teachers association demands State Selection Commission reinstatement

The Newz Radar

Dharamshala: A meeting of the Jointly Trained Unemployed Teachers Association was held in Dharamshala on Tuesday, where members emphasized the need to reinstate the Guest Faculty Policy by the state government and demanded the formation of a State Selection Commission. Rohit Aman Tekta, the association’s vice president, expressed concerns over the government’s reluctance to conduct regular recruitments in Himachal Pradesh, questioning if this signaled a shift in policy. He highlighted the absence of a State Selection Commission for the past 13 months, urging the government to clarify the situation. In response, the Chief Minister stated that the Guest Faculty issue would be carefully considered, suggesting a temporary halt to it. However, he clarified that there had been no detailed discussion on this matter in the cabinet.

Tekta criticized the government for not seriously addressing the concerns of the state’s 9 lakh unemployed individuals, accusing it of conspiring against them. Following the decisions made during Tuesday’s meeting in Dharamshala, it was decided that if the government fails to meet their demands, unemployed trained teachers would stage a protest in Shimla. The association demands immediate action to address the plight of unemployed teachers and the reinstatement of the State Selection Commission.
