Mandi: The Mandi police arrested Pranshul Saini, accused in cases of harassing minor students at his tuition centre, who had been evading authorities for quite some time.
On Tuesday he was presented before Chief Judicial Magistrate Surya Prakash, who remanded him in judicial custody until January 18. Subsequently, he would be produced in the POCSO court in two days.
Three FIRs have been filed against him for sexually harassing his students.
DSP headquarters Dev Raj confirmed the arrest of the accused in connection with the alleged harassment of girls at his tuition centre.
Pranshul Saini had initially sought anticipatory bail in the Himachal High Court, which he later withdrew. Upon his return to Mandi, the police apprehended him.
Three adolescent students had filed complaints in the women’s police station against Pranshul Saini, the director of Bridging Minds Institute in Mandi, for sexual harassment.
The first FIR was registered on January 8, followed by the second on January 10, and the third on January 12.
The incidents came to light when the students confided about the incidents of harassment at the tuition centre to their relatives, who then approached the police and filed complaints against the tuition centre director. The police subsequently registered three cases against the accused under the POCSO Act and other relevant sections of IPC.
