Devotees from Punjab stopped from entering state without appropriate Covid certificates

Una | TNR
Unruly scenes were witnessed in the border town of Gagret late on Monday night, as devotees from Punjab were stopped from entering Himachal Pradesh without appropriate Covid negative and vaccination certificates.
After unsuccessfully trying to cross the border forcibly, angry devotees blocked vehicular traffic on the Punjab side, leading to chaos on both sides.
This was the result of a tit for tat reaction, as devotees felt that if people from Punjab were disallowed to enter Himachal, then the same action was applicable to those entering Punjab from Himachal.
The situation was brought under control after the Punjab police arrived at the spot and cleared the traffic on the Punjab side.
The Himachal government had earlier issued an advisory on the Corona protocol to be observed for a all devotees wishing to enter the state during the ongoing month of ‘Shravan’.
As per this advisory, all devotees are being stopped and checked at various border points in Una and has become a tough task to handle for the police.
