BILASPUR: After Dharamshala, Chamba, Kullu and Mandi, it’s the turn of Bilaspur. The Newz Radar, the only and trusted English digital news network based out of Himachal Pradesh, will be organising its much-acclaimed ‘Shining Star Awards-2024’ in Bilaspur on Sunday (June 23, 2024) to felicitate meritorious Class 10 and Class 12 students who have scored 85 per cent and above marks in their board examination.

Himachal Pradesh Minister for Technical Education, Vocational and Industrial Training Rajesh Dharmani will be the chief guest on the occasion. Incidentally, Rajesh Dharmani is an MLA from neighbouring Ghumarwin, a constituency that is part of Bilaspur district.

The June 23 event in Bilaspur will be the fifth episode of the second edition of the prestigious ‘Shining Star Awards’, which were instituted in 2023 to celebrate the extraordinary academic achievements of the super brains, among them several from ordinary backgrounds.

After Bilaspur, Team Newz Radar will be shifting focus to Una to organise the ‘Shining Star Awards’ at the Haroli Auditorium on June 26 where Deputy Chief Minister and local MLA Mukesh Agnihotri is expected to be the chief guest.

All the recent episodes of the ‘Shining Star Awards’ elicited widespread response, with nearly 1,000 participants (including parents and teachers) turning up at each event. The aim behind organising the ‘Shining Star Awards’ is to connect with bright young minds and foster a constructive society, says Sunil Chadha, Executive Editor at The Newz Radar. He avers that it’s a must to honour students, their parents and teachers who have worked hard for years to achieve such academic milestones.

The opening part of this year’s edition of the Shining Star Awards was held in Dharamshala. The event received stupendous response with a gathering of around 1,000 people turning up. Retired IAS officer and UPSC adviser JM Pathania, who was the chief guest, addressed the gathering and as a social welfare initiative, he shared his personal contact number with students to assist them in their careers.
