CHAMBA: Chamba boy Chintan Thakur’s remarkable achievement of securing the top rank in Chamba district and the fourth in Himachal Pradesh in the recent Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education results is a testament not just to his academic prowess, but also a powerful message to students grappling with complaints about inadequate facilities.

Despite trekking the hills for around two hours daily to reach his school, Chintan remained undeterred in his pursuit of excellence. His aspiration to become an IAS officer serves as a beacon of inspiration, showcasing the transformative power of determination and resilience in the face of adversity.

Chintan Thakur was one among the over 300 meritorious Class X and Class XII students who scored 85 per cent or above marks in their board examination and were felicitated at The Newz Radar Shining Star Awards-2024 in Chamba.

The award ceremony was off to a stunning start in culturally rich Chamba on Tuesday (May 28, 2024) as long queues of students were witnessed at the town’s historic Darbar Hall, the venue for the event. Students from far-off areas of Chamba had started reaching the venue since morning even as the registration for the event was to start at 12 noon and the awards ceremony at 1 pm.

The Newz Radar, the only English digital news network based out of Himachal Pradesh, has been organising the second part of its Shining Star Awards this year, the first edition having elicited stupendous response in 2023.

The aim behind organising the event is to connect with the bright young minds and foster a constructive society. “The function will take place at the famous Darbar Hall in Chamba,” said Sunil Chadha, Executive Editor of TNR. Sunil Chadha said the purpose of the event is to felicitate both students and their parents who have worked hard for several months to achieve the academic milestone.

The opening part of this year’s series of the Shining Star Awards was held recently in Dharamshala. The event received stupendous response with a gathering of around 1,000 people turning up, which included meritorious students, their teachers and parents. Retired IAS officer and UPSC adviser JM Pathania, who was the chief guest, addressed the gathering and, as a social welfare initiative, shared his personal contact number with the students to assist them in their careers.

The Newz Radar’s social connect initiative is supported primarily by Guru Academy, which is renowned for providing coaching to students aspiring to become medical practitioners.

This is the second edition of the Shining Star Awards as the event was started last year and it attracted personalities from various fields. Distinguished guests, including Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and top government officials, graced various functions in 2023 and shared their views with students.
