Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama has said that he would live more than 100 years as he shared insights of his dreams on longevity while addressing a gathering at the main Tibetan Buddhist Vihar in McLeodganj.
During a prayer meeting organised by former employees and former security personnel of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), the Tibetan spiritual leader imparted a message of longevity, spiritual practice and the enduring essence of Buddhist philosophy.
During the assembly, the Dalai Lama revealed that his dreams and divine indications affirmed his expectancy to surpass a century in life. “It is clear in my dreams that I will live more than 100 years,” he proclaimed, adding, “The gods who are seated on my shoulders also say the same.” Amidst heartfelt prayers for his well-being, the spiritual leader expressed gratitude towards his Tibetan companions, acknowledging their unwavering support during challenging times.
Reflecting on his dedication to the teachings of Buddhism, he reiterated his commitment to advancing its principles. “I have worked a lot for the philosophy of Buddhism and will continue to do so,” he affirmed. Citing Buddha’s indications of his longevity, he encouraged his followers to embrace happiness and dedication to the Buddhist path.
The Dalai Lama emphasised the significance of Buddhist practice, urging attendees to cultivate mindfulness and emptiness in their daily lives. “The most important thing is that we are all disciples of Lord Buddha. Therefore, keep practising Buddhist mind and voidness as much as possible. It is beneficial,” he said.
In a poignant moment, he highlighted the increasing global interest in Buddhism and stressed the importance of devotion in spiritual practice. “Today people are showing more interest in Buddhism. When we pray, it is better to practice voidness instead of offering money at that time,” he observed.
The prayer meeting concluded with a sense of reverence and commitment to the teachings of Buddhism as the Dalai Lama’s words resonated with attendees, inspiring them to embrace mindfulness and compassion in their lives.
