Shimla: The state is experiencing a significant drop in temperature due to cold winds. Many areas have recorded near-freezing temperatures, with Sundarnagar, Bhuntar, Una, Solan, and Mandi hovering around one degree Celsius.
Regions like Samdho, Rekong Peo, and Kalpa are witnessing sub-zero temperatures. Dense fog and mist contribute to the chilly weather.
The Meteorological Department forecasts the possibility of widespread fog and reduced visibility in various districts.
Minimum temperatures in Sundarnagar reached a record low of 1.2 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar at 0.8 degrees, Mandi at 1.1 degrees, Solan at 0.8 degrees, Una at 1.7 degrees, and Narkanda at 1.4 degrees Celsius. In Kalpa, Rekong Peo, and Samdho, temperatures dropped to minus 2.6, minus 0.3, and -6.0 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Shimla recorded a minimum temperature of 3.9 degrees, while Dharamshala reported 7.7 degrees Celsius.
Sundarnagar, Bhuntar, Chamba, Dalhousie, Kukumseri, Rekong Peo, and Samdho witnessed a noticeable decline in maximum temperatures over the past 24 hours. Shimla registered a maximum temperature of 14.4 degrees Celsius during this period, indicating a notable cooling trend in the region.
