
SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft landing caused a sonic boom in Florida
A sonic boom was heard in parts of Florida after SpaceX cargo Dragon spacecraft successfully splashed down in the Atlantic Ocean. Some residents in Jacksonville said that they felt their house shake as a result of the landing, according to local news outlet News4JAX. The spacecraft returned to Earth on Friday, completing SpaceX’s 23rd cargo resupply mission to the ISS.
Google shelves plans to offer bank accounts to its Pay app users
Google is shelving plans to offer banking services to Pay app users, nearly two years after it first announced its banking plans. Google’s ‘Plex Accounts’ would’ve offered checking and savings accounts with no monthly fees, overdraft charges, or minimum balance requirements. Google’s VP and GM of payments Caesar Sengupta, who was leading the ‘Plex’ project, left the company in April.
iPhone 13 bug that prevented unlock with Apple Watch fixed
Apple has fixed the iPhone 13 bug that prevented users from unlocking their phones with an Apple Watch while wearing a mask. The fix has been rolled out with the iOS 15.0.1 update. Users who earlier tried using the feature ran into an error message about a communication issue with the Apple Watch.
iOS 15 bug deleting saved photos for some iPhone users
A bug in the iOS 15 Messages app is causing saved photos to be deleted from some users’ iPhones, MacRumors reported. According to reports, photos saved from Messages thread to users’ personal iCloud Photos library are getting deleted if the Messages thread is deleted and an iCloud backup is performed. Apple is yet to release a fix for this issue.
Google sued over DeepMind’s access to 1.6 million UK patients’ records
UK-based law firm Mishcon de Reya has filed a class-action lawsuit against Google and DeepMind over their access to confidential medical records of approximately 1.6 million UK patients without their knowledge or consent. The issue dates back to 2015 when the firms were given the data by an NHS Trust as part of an app development project.

8-year-old said to be ‘world’s youngest astronomer’ claims to find 18 asteroids
Eight-year-old Nicole Oliveira from Brazil who joined a NASA-affiliated programme has said she has found 18 asteroids. If her findings are certified, Oliveira will become the youngest person in the world to officially discover an asteroid, breaking the record of 18-year-old Italian Luigi Sannino. She said she’ll name the asteroids after Brazilian scientists or members of her family.
