Scientists in US build the ‘smallest-ever human-made flying structure’


US’ Northwestern University scientists created an electronic microchip with the capability of flight and have termed it as the “smallest-ever human-made flying structure”. The microchip doesn’t have a motor or engine, instead, it catches flight with the help of wind. The size of a grain of sand, dispersed micro fliers could monitor air pollution, airborne disease and environmental contamination.


Twitter to let users tip content creators with Bitcoin


Twitter will allow users to tip content creators with Bitcoin and will launch a fund to pay some users who host audio chat rooms on its Spaces feature. It also plans to support NTFs’ authentication and let people track and showcase their NFT ownership on Twitter. The platform’s users globally on iOS devices can now send and receive digital payments.


First Solar plans to make solar equipment with unique thin-film technology as PM meets CEO in USA


Prime Minister Narendra Modi met First Solar CEO Mark Widmar in Washington DC and discussed India’s renewable energy landscape, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said. Widmar shared plans to use the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for manufacturing solar power equipment with unique thin-film technology, it added. It also plans to integrate India into global supply chains, MEA said.

EU proposes mandatory USB-C port on all devices, including iPhones


The European Union’s executive arm European Commission on Thursday proposed to make USB-C the standard port for all smartphones, tablets, cameras, headphones, portable speakers and handheld video game consoles. It is likely to have a big impact on Apple’s iPhones, which come with a Lightning port unlike most of its rivals. The move is aimed at reducing e-waste and consumer inconvenience.

Samsung in talks with Tesla to make next-generation self-driving chips 


Samsung Electronics is in talks with Tesla to make Tesla’s next-generation self-driving chips, The Korea Economic Daily reported. If Samsung wins the order, it is expected to make the chip on its 7-nanometre production process, it added. The two firms have discussed chip design multiple times and exchanged chip prototypes for Tesla’s upcoming Hardware 4 self-driving computer, it said.
