Robots deployed in public areas to detect bad social behaviour in Singapore

Singapore has deployed robots to patrol public areas and detect poor social behaviour such as flouting of COVID-19 safety measures, smoking in prohibited areas and the improper parking of bicycles. Two patrol robots, named Xavier, are equipped with cameras that can detect bad social behaviour. During their three-week trial, they will trigger real-time alerts to the command-and-control centre.

NASA shares pic of wind impact on surface of Mars; says it looks like a ‘painting’

American space agency NASA has shared pictures of the impact of the wind on the surface of Mars, captured by its Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. “Beauty is everywhere,” said NASA in its post on Instagram, adding, “The lines and colours in this photo…are almost reminiscent of an abstract painting!” 

World’s richest person Jeff Bezos invests in anti-ageing technology start-up: Report

Jeff Bezos, the 57-year-old Founder of Amazon and the world’s richest person, has reportedly invested in Silicon Valley startup Altos Labs dedicated to anti-ageing. According to a report in MIT Technology Review, billionaire Russian-Israeli entrepreneur Yuri Milner and his wife, Julia Milner, have also invested in the startup. Altos Labs is offering salaries of $1 million or more to researchers.

Elon Musk replies to a user on twitter, confirms Starlink coming to India 

As per the tweet, the company is looking to bring Starlink to India in the near future, a user on Twitter asked Elon Musk about when Starlink services will launch in India. Musk replied, “Just figuring out the regulatory approval process.” Starlink will allow users access to the Internet via the constellation of SpaceX’s mini-satellites. As of now, the company has not confirmed the exact timeline of the launch.

Microsoft announces special event for September 22; Surface Duo 2 expected

Microsoft has announced its virtual fall hardware event on September 22. At the event, Microsoft will likely announce the Surface Pro 8, Surface Go 3 and a new version of Surface Duo. The event will be held at 8 a.m. PT / 8:30 pm IST with a live stream available on the company’s website. Microsoft is likely to update the Surface Pro lineup, with the Surface Pro 8 and the next-generation Surface Pro X getting all the attention.
