The government of Himachal Pradesh will organise the Swarnim Himachal Rath Yatra on Oct 2, to commemorate the state’s golden jubilee year of achieving complete statehood. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, announced this at a high level meeting held in connection with the Rath Yatra on Friday. The Yatra he said would be a celebration of the common man’s contribution toward the glorious 50 year long journey of Himachal Pradesh.
51 programmes across the state
The government will organise 51 programs across the state through various state departments. The Yatra is expected to cover all constituencies of the state over a period of two months and culminate in a grand programme on January 25, 2022, on the occassion of the complete statehood day celebrations.
Executive committee constituted
The CM said that an executive committee under the chairmanship of MLA Dr Rajiv Bindal had been costituted for the successful organisation of the Yatra. Four sub-committees have also been formulated namely the golden chariot purchase committee, social media committee, the budget committee and the information, education and communication committee. He stated that although the government had wished to begin the celebrations from January 25 this year, it had to be postponed due to the pandemic.
History of state to be displayed
He said that the developmental history of the state would be displayed during the yatra which would include active participation by the general public as well as achievers in different fields such as sports, social work, culture, literature etc. The golden chariot he said would be fitted with equipments to showcase the history of the state’s development. He added that all major departments like education, social justice and empowerment, public works, jal shakti, rural development, forest and electricity departments would also display the development of the state appropriately.
