Sundernagar all set to host state-level Nalwar Fair from March 22, event to mark celebration of culture, community

MANDI: Preparations are in full swing for the state-level Nalwar Fair-2024 to be held at Sundernagar in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.
Chaired by Girish Samara, Sundernagar SDM and chairman of the fair committee, a review was conducted to ensure a seamless and successful event. “The fair is not just an event, it’s a collective responsibility we all share. Let’s uphold our duties with utmost dedication,” emphasized Samara.
Scheduled from March 22 to 28, the fair promises to be a vibrant showcase of culture, tradition and social awareness. Featuring exhibitions addressing societal issues, the fair aims to foster community engagement and enlightenment.
In a bid to guarantee a memorable experience for all attendees, the SDM issued directives for timely completion of essential arrangements. These encompassed meticulous planning for sanitation, water supply, electricity, and healthcare facilities.
Divisional Commissioner Rakheel Kahlon will inaugurate the event on March 22, marking the commencement of a week-long celebration. Visitors can expect a grand parade, meticulously organised to delight spectators along the route.
Ensuring smooth traffic flow and adequate parking facilities, authorities have been tasked with formulating a comprehensive plan to alleviate congestion during the event. Cultural aficionados will rejoice as Jawahar Park becomes the stage for five enchanting evenings of cultural performances, scheduled from March 22nd to March 26th.
In a bid to promote awareness and education, various departments will showcase their initiatives and services through informative exhibitions at the fairgrounds. Animal lovers can look forward to captivating displays at the dog show on March 26 and the animal exhibition on March 27, courtesy of the Animal Husbandry Department.
Sports enthusiasts will have their adrenaline fix with well-organised competitions scheduled from March 23 to 26. Equal cash prizes await the deserving winners. The meeting, attended by dignitaries, including Sundernagar DSP Bharat Bhushan and BDO Vivek Chauhan, underscored the collaborative effort to ensure the resounding success of the fair.
