Himachal Pradesh BJP president Dr Rajiv Bindal has launched a scathing critique against the Congress government, accusing it of consistently shutting down schools, hospitals and other public institutions during its one-and-a-half-year tenure.

Dr Bindal alleged that the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led government has set a record by closing over 1,100 institutions that were opened by the previous BJP administration and in the latest move had shut down more than 800 schools.

“This government has become a lockout government,” Dr Bindal asserted, accusing the Congress administration of halting critical services such as long-distance bus routes, water bill concessions for villagers, electricity subsidies and medical bill reimbursements for pensioners. He said the government’s actions had resulted in the closure of schools, colleges, hospitals and various offices across the state.

Focusing on the Sirmaur district, Dr Bindal specifically accused Congress leaders in Nahan of undermining public welfare by closing essential institutions, including tehsils, patwar circles, primary health centres and veterinary dispensaries. He expressed concern over the closure of government primary school at Dholsari whose students are now being transferred to Jangla Bhud school. Similarly, Bakarla school’s students are being shifted to Surla school and Nagoli school’s students are being sent to Talo school.

In a direct challenge to Nahan Congress leaders, Dr Bindal urged them to walk the 8-km trek from Dholsari to Jangla Bhud, a route characterised by uphill and downhill stretches, poor road conditions and dense forests, before deciding to close the school. He sarcastically suggested that if any Congress leader had the courage to complete the journey on foot, they should proceed with the closure.

Dr Bindal also criticised the closure of the Kala Amb tehsil, the primary health centres of Panjahal, Sainwala and Trilokpur, along with five patwar circles and three veterinary dispensaries. He lamented that by shutting down these institutions, the Congress government has left the people of Nahan with nothing but hardship.
