Sukhu govt’s 1-year rally may face rain trouble as fresh western disturbance to hit Himachal

SHIMLA: The first anniversary function of the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government in Himachal Pradesh that the Congress plans to celebrate at the Police Ground in Dharamshala on December 11 (2023) in a grand manner may face rain obstacle.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, light rain is expected at isolated places in the middle and high hills of Himachal on the day of the rally as well as on December 12. The Meteorological Department, in its forecast on Thursday (December 7), said dry weather was expected in the state for the next four days till December 10.
The weather may witness a change for the next two days on account of a fresh western disturbance, it said. “The western disturbance as a cyclonic circulation over Haryana and neighbourhood persists and is now seen between 1.5 km and 4.5 km above mean sea level with a trough aloft with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly along longitude 75°E to the north of latitude 28°N. A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from December 11,” it said.
The weather, meanwhile, remained dry over the state during last 24 hours. No Large change in minimum and maximum temperatures was witnessed over the last 24 hours. The average minimum and maximum temperatures too remained normal. The lowest temperature of -3.6 degrees Celsius was recorded at Samdho in Lahaul-Spiti while the highest of 26.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Una.
The Himachal Congress has set a target of gathering a crowd of more than 30,000 for the rally, which party’s national president Mallikarjun Kharge and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, among others, are expected to attend.
During the legislature party meeting held in Shimla recently, CM Sukhu had told all the MLAs to gather crowd from their Assembly constituencies. The biggest target would be for Dharamshala MLA Sudhir while the MLAs of Shahpur and Jwalamukhi have received instructions to bring more than 2,000 supporters each to the venue.
