Targets Cong for ‘insulting’ Chhoti Kashi through lewd remarks on Kangana
Mandi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a blistering attack on the Congress during the BJP’s rally at Mandi’s Paddal Ground in Himachal Pradesh on Friday (May 24, 2024).
Addressing the massive crowd, Modi condemned the Congress over the lewd remarks made by its leaders against BJP’s Mandi candidate and actress Kangana Ranaut. “The lewd things that Congress leadership said about Kangana by taking the name of Mandi are an insult to Mandi, an insult to Chhoti Kashi, an insult to Himachal and an insult to every daughter of Himachal,” Modi stated, drawing a loud applause from the audience.
The PM said if the BJP won all four seats in Himachal and contributed to forming the BJP government at the Centre the third time, an airport would soon be constructed in Mandi. He alleged that the disaster relief funds provided by the Centre during the 2023 rain calamity were misappropriated by the state government, which needed to be thoroughly investigated. He warned that the state government would be held accountable for this.
Targeting Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Modi said that after coming to power, thousands of institutions were closed in the state, including the most important Staff Selection Commission in Hamirpur, which had jeopardised the future of the state’s children.
He claimed that the Congress secured power in the state by making false guarantees to the people, and that the public would respond to this in the upcoming elections.
The BJP leader accused Sukhu of betraying state employees by taking their votes deceitfully but not providing them with the promised dearness allowance.
During the event, Modi appealed to the public to vote for the BJP candidate from Mandi Kangana, describing her as the strength of today’s youth and an inspiration who has achieved great success from a small town like Mandi.
He said that Kangana represents the expressions and thoughts of the youth and if she reaches Parliament, she will set an example for the youth, especially women, of the state.
Modi also mentioned that he had planned several schemes for women in his next five-year term, which will help women across the country achieve greater heights. Earlier, the leader of the Opposition and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur welcomed Prime Minister Modi with a cap. The event was attended by 12 BJP legislators from the Mandi parliamentary constituency and other prominent leaders.
