Sudhir recalls CM Sukhu’s ‘handshake snub’, plays emotional card ahead of Dharamshala bypoll

Dharamshala: Former Himachal Pradesh minister Sudhir Sharma, contesting Assembly byelection from Dharamshala on the BJP ticket, took a swipe at Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday, recalling an incident where Sukhu had publicly snubbed him by shaking off his hand. He raised this issue while addressing a massive gathering at Zorawar Stadium here.

Accompanied by Union Minister Anurag Thakur, Sudhir Sharma reminded the public of the incident, which had gone viral on social media. Emphasising the importance of the upcoming election, Sudhir urged people to consider it as their own battle for the development of Dharamshala.

The incident dates back to Sukhu’s first tour to Dharamshala where Sudhir Sharma, then a Congress MLA, warmly welcomed him at a grand rally. However, Sudhir was left ignored by the CM, a moment captured by video cameras and circulated widely online.

At a mega rally in Dharamshala, Sudhir Sharma addressed the gathering after filing his election nomination. Political analysts note that the arrival of Anurag Thakur has significantly bolstered Sudhir Sharma’s campaign, adding more weight to his electoral bid. Both BJP and Congress candidates filed their nominations on Tuesday, marking a significant moment in the electoral race.

The rally saw enthusiastic participation from supporters, with Sudhir Sharma’s speech resonating with the crowd. He reiterated his commitment to the development of Dharamshala and urged voters to rally behind him for a brighter future for the region.

With the nomination filing completed, the political landscape in Dharamshala is heating up, with both parties intensifying their campaign efforts. Sudhir Sharma’s direct challenge to CM Sukhu underscores the intense competition and stakes involved in the upcoming elections.
