Star-studded Shimla Summer Festival set to dazzle with Bollywood and local talent, know the dates

The Shimla district administration has commenced preparations for the upcoming Summer Festival to be held in Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla from June 15 to 18. Currently, discussions are underway regarding the selection of prominent artistes. A comprehensive blueprint outlining the events for the next four days has been drafted.
On the inaugural day, the spotlight will be on performances by local artistes. The following day will showcase the rich cultural heritage of the region with performances by Pahadi and Himachali artists, along with invites extended to artistes from other districts of the state. The third day will feature the vibrant beats of Punjabi singers, while the grand finale on the fourth day will be graced by a Bollywood playback singer.
While names like Jubin Nautiyal and Shalmali Kholgade have been deliberated upon by the administration, other options are also being explored due to budget constraints. Additionally, there are plans for a fashion show and a dog show, with the added charm of police and Army bands.
The festivities will kick off at 4 pm in the afternoon, featuring performances by schoolchildren on stage. Furthermore, tourists will have the opportunity to join in the celebration by singing along with the police band.
The selection process for local artistes has commenced, with auditions taking place at the Gaiety Theatre in Shimla. A total of 118 applicants participated in auditions on the first day, showcasing their talents in music, dance and announcements for the cultural programmes slated for the International Shimla Summer Festival 2024. The festival promises to be a celebration of Himachali culture, with festivities stretching from the Ridge ground to Mall Road, illuminated by vibrant lights throughout the day and night.
