Sardar Patel University pro-VC Prof Anupama Singh convenes meeting
The Newz Radar
Mandi: A crucial meeting was convened on Friday (Feb 23) at Sardar Patel University Mandi under the stewardship of pro-VC Professor Anupama Singh. The meeting was attended by key constitutional officers, deans, and department heads. Amidst deliberations on crucial university matters, a decision was taken – legal recourse will be pursued if funds owed to the university are not promptly transferred.
The university’s executive council, long overdue for a session, has been slated for March 7, signaling a firm commitment to governance despite recent administrative lapses. Frustrated by prolonged financial neglect, university authorities unanimously voted to seek redress through legal channels, aiming to recover a sum of approximately Rs 3.5 crore owed by Himachal Pradesh University Shimla.
A poignant issue highlighted during the meeting was the failure of HPU Shimla to transfer funds collected as levies from B.Ed students under the jurisdiction of SPU, during admissions. Despite concerted appeals to the government and the Governor, the university’s entreaties fell on deaf ears, compelling SPU to contemplate legal action as a last resort.
In a bid to uphold academic integrity, it was further decreed that all forthcoming entrance exams will be exclusively administered by SPU. With successful precedents set by the recent JEE (IT) entrance examination, SPU remains steadfast in its resolve to ensure fair and equitable admissions processes.
